10th STOP DURING ARGO
  • Location: British Virgin Islands, a stunning group of islands in the Caribbean, known for its crystal-clear waters, scenic landscapes and vibrant marine life.

  • Historical Significance: The British Virgin Islands are renowned for their rich maritime history and as a popular sailing destination. The islands have been a hub for seafarers for centuries and are famous for their protected coves, idyllic beaches and vibrant coral reefs, making them a prime location for cruising and island hopping.

  • Role in the Expedition: This stop in the British Virgin Islands was planned to drop off one crew member and pick up a new one. From February 18th to February 23rd, 2024, we navigated between various islands, including Virgin Gorda (Spanish Town), Jost Van Dyke, Beef Island and Tortola (Road Town).

    • The stop also allowed us to resupply, though food prices were notably high.

    • No specific repairs were needed during this stop.

    • The catamaran allowed for faster navigation, which was a welcome change after the previous legs of the journey.

  • Conditions: Conditions during the stay were stable and favorable for sailing, with smooth seas and steady winds. The weather made for an ideal environment for exploring the islands and completing the crew transition.

  • Boat: Marnie Kai, Leopard 46 catamaran.

  • Duration of Stay: From February 18th to February 23rd, 2024, the stay in the British Virgin Islands allowed for crew changes, resupply and exploration.

  • Distance to Next Stop: 647 nm (approximately 1,199 km) to Long Island, Bahamas.
