11th STOP DURING ARGO
  • Location: Long Island, Bahamas, located in the Atlantic Ocean, part of the beautiful Exuma Cays chain, known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters and unique wildlife.

  • Historical Significance: The Bahamas have a rich history as a key point for trade and maritime navigation in the Caribbean. The islands are famous for their colonial architecture, their role in piracy during the 17th century and their significance as a popular tourist destination for both relaxation and adventure.

  • Role in the Expedition: From February 27th to March 5th, 2024, we explored the Bahamas, covering 193 nm. Stops included Exuma Island (George Town), Pig Beach and Norman’s Cay.

    • Resupply

    • Attractions like the Blue Hole, the swimming pigs at Pig Beach, the wreck of an Escobar plane and the James Bond Cave.

  • Conditions: Navigation was generally easy with steady winds and calm seas, though shallow waters required vigilance. The turquoise waters provided a stunning backdrop for island exploration.

  • Boat: Marnie Kai, Leopard 46 catamaran.

  • Duration of Stay: From February 27th to March 5th, 2024, the stay in the Bahamas allowed for exploration, resupply and sightseeing.

  • Distance to Arrival: 213 nm (approximately 394 km) to Biscayne Bay, Miami.
