1st STOP DURING ARGO
  • Location: Barcelona, Spain, located on the northeastern coast along the Mediterranean Sea.

  • Historical Significance: Barcelona, one of Spain’s most iconic cities, has a rich maritime history dating back to Roman times. It became a major trade and cultural center during the Middle Ages and continues to be a key Mediterranean port.

  • Role in the Expedition:

    • A stopover for further rest, resupply and maintenance.

    • After the storm on the first night of the journey (winds of 8 on the Beaufort scale), the boat required checks and repairs to address wear and tear.

    • Ensured all systems were functioning properly for the next leg of the journey.

  • Ideal Conditions: Calm Mediterranean weather provided good sailing conditions and the port offered excellent facilities for maintenance and logistical needs.

  • Boat: The boat was Pepa an Alumarine 49.

  • Duration of Stay: From December 2nd to December 5th, 2023, allowing for full maintenance and preparation before the next stage of the journey.

  • Distance to Next Stop: 230 nm (approximately 426 km) to Alicante, Spain.
