ALICANTE

2nd STOP DURING ARGO
  • Location: Alicante (El Campello), Spain, situated on the southeastern coast along the Mediterranean Sea.

  • Historical Significance: Alicante is a historic port city with roots dating back to Roman times. It became a major center for trade and defense due to its strategic location. Known for its castle, beaches and vibrant maritime heritage, it remains one of Spain's most important Mediterranean ports.

  • Role in the Expedition:

    • A stopover for rest, resupply and maintenance.

    • After careful consideration, I made the difficult decision to leave the expedition and disembark in Alicante, as the relationship with the captain no longer allowed me to continue with full confidence.

  • Boat: The boat was Pepa an Alumarine 39.

  • Duration of Stay: From December 6th to December 13th, 2023, allowing for resupply, repairs, and preparation before my departure.

  • Distance to Next Stop: 293 nm (approximately 542 km) to Gibraltar.
